Hira-zukuri, iori-mune and forged in flowing itame-hada with ji-nie and chikei, the tempered edge notare in nie and nioi with a Jizo boshi with a long return, ubu tang with one hole and kiri file marks, signed Bizen kuni Osafune Sukesada and illegibly dared; one-piece shakudo habaki; 9 1/4in (23.5cm) long

Black-lacquer aikuch-goshirae with floral family crests in yami-makie; fitted with a copper kozuka carved with a dragon and a tiger with gold overlays

With an old origami written by Inami Hakusui attributing this blade to Sukesada in the Eiroku period (1558-1569).
