Attributed to the Mino Senjuin group, Muromachi period (15th century)
Sugata (configuration): hon-zukuri, iori-mune, torii-zori, slightly extended kissaki
Kitae (forging pattern): ko-itame mixed with masame
Hamon (tempering pattern): gentle notare with areas of midare in the upper section with nie, ara-nie and utsuri
Boshi (tip): sugu-ba, ko-maru
Nakago (tang): ubu, kuri-jiri with one hole and kiri file marks
Habaki (collar): one-piece, copper
Nagasa (length from tip to beginning of tang): 26 5/8in (67.7cm)
Motohaba (width at start of tempered edge): 1 3/16in (3cm)
Sakihaba (width before tip): 11/16in (2cm)
In shirasaya (wood storage scabbard)
Handachi-goshirae comprising a red-lacquer ishime-ji saya with shibuichi ishime-ji hardware, including kojiri, koiguchi, fuchi-gashira and decorated with a water plantain family crest in relief, the tsuka wrapped in black silk and mounted with shibuichi menuki carved as oars; iron katchushi-style tsuba pierced with cherry blossoms
