1st King's Dragoon Guards Regimental Standard c1861-1882
A fine and very rare example (79 x 64cm) in double sided blue damask material. In the centre St. Edward's crown over a circular Garter Proper enclosing the 'VR' cypher. All in silver and gold thread embroidery, the crown with red wool-work cushions and green silk orb. In diagonal corners '1st' over 'KDG' in silver thread on crimson silk ground all within Union spray borders. These in metal thread embroidery and coloured silks. The other corners show the White Horse of Hanover in silver and gold thread on grounds of crimson silk and green wool-work, all within decorative borders of gold thread. Four applied battle honour scrolls, Waterloo Sevastopol Taku Forts Pekin' are all in black wool-work on metal thread grounds. Complete with all gold fringes. Very good overall condition.
