A very rare Meissen part tea and coffee service, circa 1725
Each moulded with four panels with gilt fluted borders, painted in chinoiserie style with scenes of figures engaged in various amusing pursuits, gilt scrollwork borders, the handles and teapot spout painted with indianische Blumen and embellished with gilding, the wells of the teabowls and the reverse of the saucers with sprigs of indianische Blumen, comprising:
a hot water jug and cover (16.3cm high);
a teapot and cover (12cm high);
a tea canister and cover (10.2cm high);
an oval sugar bowl and cover (11.5cm across);
four teabowls and five saucers (the teabowls approx 4.5cm high; the saucers approx. 12.5cm diam.), crossed swords marks in blue and purple enamel, incised / inside footrims of teabowls and saucers (sugar bowl repaired) (17)
