Qianlong, dated 1771
Written on silk brocade woven with a pattern of scattered ruyi-clouds mounted as a handscroll, written in Manchu and Han script, the text opening with a four-character title in vertical line 'fengtian gaoming' or 'by command of Heaven', flanked by a pair of dragons, followed by a long inscription, stamed with two large seal impression. 420cm long.

    The present edict is dated to the 25th day of the 11th month of the 36th year of the Qianlong period (1771), proclaiming the special commendation and promotion of one official rank from the Qianlong Emperor to the military officer Jin Qixian of the 'Yellow Flag' regiment. Compliments have also been made on Qixian's wife, Li Jia, for being faithful to her husband and taking care of the family affairs during his absense.
