Footnotes

  • 清 粉彩桃形擺件

It is rare to find an enamelled porcelain scholar's object of this form. There is, however, a rare enamelled porcelain 'peach' snuff bottle in the Mary and George Bloch collection, where the enamels are also painted directly onto the biscuit, illustrated by Moss, Graham and Tsang, A Treasury of Chinese Snuff Bottles, Vol.6, pg.845, no. 1399. The authors date the 'peach' snuff bottle to 1810-1890, arguing that it is difficult to pinpoint precisely the reign it was produced in.
