A gilt-bronze figure of Mahakala
Mid Qing dynasty
The fearsome deity seated with one leg pendant and the other bent on a corpse above a double lotus throne, his stern face flanked by elongated ears and crowned with red flaming hair, his right hand holding a vajra and the left holding a kalasha, the other pair of hands holding a sword and a totem, the figure bejewelled with semi-precious stones and elaborate festoons with an elephant skin shawl drawn across his back, the sash and collar hanging chains of head trophies.
