An exceptionally large sacrificial-blue glazed pear-shaped vase
Qianlong Rising from a sturdy circular hollowed foot, the pear-shaped body gently curving towards an extended long neck, richly enamelled on the exterior with a layer of intense dark blue glaze. 78cm high.
It is extremely rare to find any monochrome vase of the Qianlong period of such a large size, and this appears to be amongst the largest recorded in any public or private collection. For an example of a Qianlong reign-marked vase cover with a similarly intense dark-blue glaze, see the blue-glazed flask-form vase from the Gordon collection, sold at Christie's New York, 24 March 2011, lot 1147.
