    Provenance 來源:
Y.F. Yang & Co., Hong Kong

Both figures are painted in homage to the artworks of the Qing court artist Giuseppe Castiglione. The rider holding a spear is Ayusi, the famous cavalry leader of the Qianlong period whom quelled the Zunghar rebellion. The inscription translates 'Ayusi assaulting the enemy with a spear, made by Liu Shouben, the finest of the Jing class, spring of 'bingzi' year (1996)', followed by a seal of the artist.
