    Provenance 來源:
    Christie's Hong Kong, 1 November 1994, lot 1390

It is extremely rare to find a white jade snuff bottle inscribed with a Qianlong reign mark, and comparatively few are recorded in any private or public collection.

There is, however, a white jade 'chilong' snuff bottle from the Qing Court Collection, preserved in the Palace Museum, Beijing, illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum. Snuff Bottles, Hong Kong, 2003, pg.133, no.192, which shares the same four-character kaishu mark as on the current snuff bottle.

For a white jade snuff bottle with similar technique, in which the design is so vividly picked out in shallow relief, see a white jade bottle from the Mary and George Bloch collection, attributed to Suzhou, worked with a scene of the bats, finger citron and pomegranates, illustrated in A Treasury of Chinese Snuff Bottles, Vol. 1, Hong Kong, 1996, pg. 298, no. 120.
