There is no consensus at present on the origin of the mark 'Ye Tao'. According to Zhongguo zisha minghu zhenshang edited by Han Qilou and Xia Junwei, 'Ye Tao' refers to Shao Zhonghe, the descendant of Li Yong Company, whose great-grandfather Shao Quanyin, grandfather Shao Huiru, father Shao Yongshang managed zisha ware business for generations. See Li Changping, Mingqing zisha zhenshang, Appreciation of Ming and Qing Zisha Wares, p.310. From another perspective, 'Ye Tao' was regarded as Pei Shimin, as seen from his mark prevalent in publication Shimin zhitao, and many extant Pei Shimin wares. See Pei Junfeng, Shimin zhitao, Pottery made by Shimin, Shanghai, 2009.
