A group of four enamelled Yixing stoneware teapots and covers and a waterpot

Qing dynasty
All finely enamelled in a vivid famille rose palette with floral sprays and butterflies, three with inscriptions carved on the bases in xingshu style, together with a waterpot enamelled in famille rose with four landscape roundels, the interior with a crackled-white glaze.

Footnotes

The inscriptions incised on the bases of the two teapots are translated as 'the mountain is steep like a razor, by ziqi', and another 'the summer is cooling down in the midday, by yigong'.

Chen Ziqi is the name of a distinguished potter who was recorded as having lived in the late Ming / early Qing dynasty. For further information on the artist, see lot 549.

The two-character mark incised below the handle reads junde, literally translating as 'gentleman's virtue', of which the name is unrecorded in historical Yixing connoisseurship but is referred to as a specific type of miniature teapot by modern-day Yixing connoisseurs.

清朱泥粉彩纏枝花卉小壺四件、粉彩水盂一件

四把小壺各成蓮子形、扁圓形及梨形，其中三把以藍釉粉彩飾花蝶紋及龍紋，壺底分別鐫刻詩文，一作「山亭峻如削。子畦」、另一作「槐夏午陰清。逸公」，另外其中梨形藍彩小壺壺柄下刻「君德」兩字，字體部分被藍釉遮掩，另一把以粉彩飾花蝶紋，壺底刻「逸公」款；水盂斂口，豐肩，圈足，外以粉彩開光飾山水，內施白釉開片。
