PROVENANCE: With Aitken Dott, Edinburgh R. Gavin McCrone
Executed in the later 1950s, when Eardley had her studio in Glasgow's Townhead area. Here, she gained the confidence of a number of local families, including the Samsons. Eardley was an inveterate sketcher, often catching fleeting impressions of the children 'on the move' on scraps of paper. The nature of this subject, however, allowed her scope to finish the picture to a high degree.
