William E. Hitchcock (American, 1928-2006), circa 1965
the hull is carved from a single piece of bone with built up bulwarks and painted black details. Deck details include: anchors, deck grating, stove pipe, eight cannons rigged on carriages, chain plates, tiller and other details. Rigged with a bow sprit, masts, cross spars, boom and gaff, standing and running rigging and bracing lines. Mounted on a pair of turned bone pedestals on a ivory and horn base in the form of a Union Jack with a railing and displayed within a glass domed case with mahogany base.
7 x 10 in. (17.8 x 25.4 cm.) height x diameter.
