A bronze model of the Osberg Viking ship
Francis Dittmar (Norwegian, 20th century), circa 1926
fully detailed with hull cast in lap strake construction, and fitted with seats, dragon head at the bow, tail at the stern, shields, oars, rudder and tiller, square rigged sail detailed with sail panels, mast and twisted wire rigging, and other details. Displayed on a bronze stand with the inscription in English The Osberg Ship, Norse Viking Longship, 10th century.; and in the ancient Nordic language "Runes": In Memory of Leif Erikson. Thousand and One -- Nineteen Hundred Twenty-Six. Along with a period booklet on the model and the history of the Osberg Viking ship.
