Opaque watercolor on paper, Deccan, circa 1780
The warrior sits beneath a mango tree holding a bloodied sword and the tusks of the elephant on the rocks below. Two attendants holding spears dressed in fine orange and gold robes. Below the vanquished white elephant is slumped next to his severed trunk.
