A Tibeto copper alloy and silver ritual teapot
Tibeto-Chinese, 18th century
The ovoid body rising on a pierced foliate dome foot, applied with silver dragon cartouches set on vertical straps, the handle fashioned in a dragon with silver wings over a scaled body and a lower section worked in thick scrolling tendrils, the silver faceted spout issued from a compact head of a makara, below a pierced silver foliate collar and short neck with dragons writing through stylized cloud forms below a gilded lid with embossed eight auspicious symbols beneath thick lotus leaved and a foliate bud finial.
