A hard wood figure of Vaisravana
Tibeto-Chinese, circa 17th century
Wearing a low crown around a topknot crown and a garment of armor, out-swept at the shoulders, and boots, he holds a mongoose in his left hand and a (now missing) parasol in the right, his stern expression defined by bulging eyes and knitted brows, seated on a platform with the pleated scarf end falling over the corners. Traces of gilt throughout.
