  Provenance: The consignor's father served as a U.S. Foreign Service Officer in Bombay, India, starting in 1952. Through both professional and social-circles the the consignor's family became personally acquainted with M.F. Husain. Husain's visits to the consignor's apartment during his childhood are well and fondly remembered. This piece was purchased directly from the artist during the mid 1950s.
