Opaque watercolor and gold on paper, Jaipur, mid 18th century
The princess prepares herself for the tryst with her lover as she applies perfume and precious jewels staring into the mirror held by an attendant, musicians and other attendants surround her in a small chamber within a palace complex, a pair of cockerels in a mating dance in the lower right corner.
