1958 DKW VS 175
1958 DKW 174cc RT175VS
Frame no. 45589101
Engine no. 45065344
Following WWII, Germany found itself with little production capacity still in tact and huge rebuilding costs. As the country got itself back on its feet, small capacity cars and bikes dominated the market.

DKW, part of Auto Union, produced a series of smaller-engined motorcycles and introduced the RT175 in 1953. Powered by a 174cc, 9.5hp two-stroke single, the bike became DKWs best selling model. The VS, which stood for Vollschwinge, or 'full spring'. The twin-fork front end provided a more comfortable ride and remained in production through the end of the production run in 1958.

This example, built two-thirds of the way through the total run, is nicely presented and well kept.
