Two large Mesopotamian aragonite cylinder seals
Early Dynastic, circa 2600-2400 B.C.
One divided over two registers by a double line, the upper section showing a bird amongst two quadrupeds, the lower with an adorant facing an enthroned figure, with remains of trees on both sides; the other cylinder seal similarly divided over to sections, two couples of quadrupeds fighting with a bird in the centre carved on the upper one, and a warrior fighting with an ibex next to a tree on the lower section, both 2in (5cm) long, mounted on display bases with impressions (2)
