A good matched set of eight Charles II oak and ash backstools
Yorkshire/Derbyshire, circa 1670
Comprising two pairs, and four highly similar examples, each having a pair of typical arched and cusp-outlined splats, all scroll-carved and centred by a stylized mask, with ball-turned or acorn pendants, between scroll finial-surmounted and split bobbin-applied uprights, the ash/oak panelled seat raised on block and baluster-turned front legs, joined by a baluster and/or fillet-turned front mid-stretcher, all of similar dimensions, approximately 49cm wide x 38.5cm deep x 100cm high, (8)
