A mid-16th century carved oak frieze section, French, circa 1540 - 1560
Mounted as a drawer front in the 19th century
Carved to the centre with the grotesque mask of an open-mouthed and bearded Green Man, flanked to either side by a sinister-facing bust, issuing foliage from their mouths, they in turn flanked by a possibly associated dog-headed serpent, each with a tail terminating in foliate scrolls, 153cm wide x 23cm high
