A Charles II oak backstool
Southern Lancashire/North Cheshire, circa 1680
Having a distinctive large arched cresting, with floral carving centred by a large carnation, over a back panel carved with a pair of flowerheads centred by a tulip within a typical moulded frame, the uprights with characteristic pyramid finials, the boarded seat raised on block and bobbin-turned legs, joined by a conforming front mid-stretcher, 48cm wide x 42cm deep x 113.5cm high, (18.5" wide x 16.5" deep x 44.5" high)
