An extremely rare Charles II oak boarded-back open armchair
North-West, Manchester, circa 1660
Having an arch-headed boarded splat, pierced and recess-carved with a geometric oval pattern, a distinctive fan carved to the centre of the cresting, S-scroll recess-carved spandrels below the unusual flat lower edge, the uprights with pyramid finials, downswept open arms on baluster-turned front supports, panelled seat, on ring-turned tapering legs, joined by low level plain stretchers, 55cm wide x 57cm deep x 105cm high, (21.5" wide x 22" deep x 41" high)
