  • PROVENANCE:
    Painted at Kintore in 2009
    Papunya Tula Artists, Alice Springs
Superannuation Fund of William Nuttall and Annette Reeves

This painting is sold with accompanying Papunya Tula Artists documentation that reads in part:'This painting depicts designs associated with Tingari ceremonies at Wilkinkarra (Lake Mackay). In ancestral times a man of the Tjakamarra kinship subsection travelled to this site from the west carrying the Fire Dreaming. Wilkinkarra is also associated with Larularunya, a species of snake who had travelled from Mt Wedge to the lake, where it escaped the fire by travelling underground to Nyinmi. This snake was assisted in this escape by clouds of water which dampened the full force of the fire.'
