Herbert William Allingham (1862-1904) a talented surgeon, was at the time of his death, Surgeon to His Majesty's Household and Surgeon in Ordinary to H.R.H the Prince of Wales. He was also senior Assistant Surgeon and Lecturer in Operative Surgery at St George's Hospital, London.
Albert Toft was born near Birmingham where his father was the principal modeller at Elkington and Company at then at Wedgwood. Toft began his career working for Wedgwood. He studied art at night school and later went to London to study under Lantein, eventually establishing his own studio producing bas reliefs and portrait sculpture.
