Footnotes

  • The characteristic dot and trellis parquetry, in abundance on the present lot, was inspired by the 18th century work of Garnier and SenĂ©. This type of inlay is commonly associated with the London firm of Donald Ross, which operated from 13 Denmark Square, Soho, during the third quarter of the 19th century. (C. Payne, "Nineteenth Century European Furniture", Suffolk, 1981, p. 315).
