A pair of George III mahogany 'Gainsborough' armchairs

each with a rectangular leather upholstered back and seat, the outcurved and scrolled arm supports and terminals with blind fretwork carving, on chamferred square section and blind fretwork carved front legs with conforming splayed back legs, terminating in castors, with later spandrels, 80cm wide, (2)

A pair of George III 'Gainsborough' armchairs, of almost identical design to the above lot, sold on behalf of the late Sir Charles Clore, Christie's London, 20 November 1986, lot 183.
