Footnotes

  • Joseph Jackson was apprenticed to Thomas Heath in 1723 and is recorded as having a workshop on the Strand, London from 1735 until 1760. As this microscope is engraved with his name as well as Cuff's, it can be assumed that he retailed the instrument.
