A large Builder's style model of the RMS Aquitania 1914
Built by J Garven Wood in 1992 to a scale of 1:145. Composite hull, painted black to the waterline and red below, with four, four blade brass propellers. Cream decks, with inscribed plank lines and white superstructure. Fine details include anchors, cable and windlass, cargo derricks and winches, ship's boats on davits. Mounted on posts in an acrylic display case on a table stand. The model 73ins. (185cm) long. 90x18x45.5ins. (229x46x116cm)

Footnotes

  • Built by John Brown at Clydebank and launched in 1913 for the Cunard Line, sister ship to Mauretania and Lusitania. She made her maiden voyage across the Atlantic in May 1914. Serving through both World Wars, she was finally broken up in 1950.
