late 19th century,
signed Newton & Co., Opticians to her Majesty the Queen & the Government, 3 Fleet St., London, with black painted metal lace-top chimney, main polished mahogany lamp house with twin doors each with blue glass arc windows, light source bays lacking main apparatus but with four jet nozzles, the lens rack with twin lacquered brass bodies with rack and pinion focussing, union shutter with top pull, wooden slide frames within sprung holders; with cased lens outfit comprising twin triple rack and pinion focussing bodies, one with patent No. 14809, and the other six lenses ranging from 4.1/2-inch to 13-inch degrees - lantern height 27.1/2in. (70cm)
