Footnotes

  • A staple of the cockpit of nearly every 1960's rally car, the combination of the Heuer Master Time and Monte Carlo (there was a special mounting plate to hold both) together with a Curta Calculator, allowed navigators to perform complex speed/time/distance calculations at lightning speed. Adorning the dashboards of everything from the works Mini Coopers to Porsche 911s, they eventually found their way into military aircrafts, including the RN and RAF VTOL Harrier.

The Master Time and Monte Carlo featured here are ex-British Military items, clear from the case markings and the black finish to the cases and mounting plates.
