Footnotes

  • A fine copy of this translation by Thomas Stocker, dedicated to the Earl of Leicester. The binding has close similarities to that on Archbishop Whitgift's copy of two works by St. Gregory, also in this sale. Views as to the author have varied, ESTC now favouring Ryckewaert over the earlier STC attribution to Marnix van St. Aldegonde.
