Compendiosa historia Hispanica, 184 leaves (of 186, without 2 of table bound at end, one of which blank), 33 lines, Roman type, 4 part titles printed in red and black, chapter and paragraph strokes in red, capital spaces blank, with word "proficiens" omitted at the end of 65b supplied in ink, possibly in the printer's office, marginal notes in a late sixteenth or early seventeenth century hand, the lengthier annotations (e.g. fol.70v) in Spanish, most added in order to highlight interesting passages (some cropped), occasional spotting, one leaf browned, thin thread of worming to foremargin of 2 leaves, small repair to blank margin of one leaf, blindstamp in margin of first and final leaves, late nineteenth century red morocco gilt, g.e.   • The first edition of the first printed history of Spain, written by Rodericus, or Rodrigo Sánchez de Arévalo, Bishop of Zamora. It includes a geographical description of the country, and a history commencing from the Visigothic invasion of 414 A.D. to the beginning of the reign of King Enrique IV of Castile and Leon, to whom the work is dedicated. Rodericus died on 4 October 1470, "and it is unlikely that Han would have omitted all reference to the fact if he had not completed printing the book until after the author's death" (BMC).
