A Japanese Satsuma sake pot
Marked 'Satsuma yaki' and the Shimazu mon, Meiji or Taishō period, circa 1900
The compressed form set on three low feet and painted in polychrome enamels and gilt over a clear crackled glaze with textile decorated with floral and wave patterns, the spout painted with a foliate scroll and the cover with a chrysanthemum knop in gilt, handle covered in rattan.
