A Chinese gilded bronze figure of Vaishravana
Mid to late Qing dynasty
Cast in two portions, one of the deity sitting on his mount, a snow lion, the other of a lotus base, the deity wearing a diadem, his left hand holding a mongoose, right hand a Buddhist umbrella, dressed in an elaborate suit of armour and flowing celestial scarf.

  • 清中晚 銅琉金瑞獅多聞天王

    多聞天是佛教的四大護法神,守護北方,统领四大天王,同时也是知識之神、財神,及一個很重要的武神。多聞天王原形為右手托寶塔,左手持三叉戟。在後期的中國,為了配合「風調雨順」的吉祥意義,一般將其塑像手上的塔、戟,改為代表「雨」的「雨傘」。
