An embroidered silk dragon robe
Late Qing dynasty
Its faded red ground featuring dragons defined in couched gilt threads chasing flaming pearls amid cloud scrolls worked in shades blue and white while the bats and other auspicious symbols and the wide lishui border include other colors of silk threads, the black ground neck bands and cuffs worked en suite (fading, staining); the robe now mounted within a Plexiglas and cloth-covered wood frame.
