此圖繪南瓜枝蔓牽連，碩果累累。瓜葉用大筆橫掃，似潑墨法，酣暢淋漓，濃淡自得。瓜藤以篆書筆意寫出，中鋒用筆，蒼老堅韌，與其所畫藤樹相近，富有金石味道。南瓜先以墨勾，再染赭紅，點綴其中，錯落有致。該作雖無確切年代，但從畫法和書風來看，應為齊白石完成「衰年變法」（1919年至1928年）以後、約七十至八十多歲的盛期之作。
