Of compressed spherical form rising from a flattened round foot to a lipped rim with incised double ringed borders, the exterior incised with an eighteen-character kaishu inscription followed by another six-character enbossed kaishu inscription within rectangular borders.

Footnotes

  • The inscription around the exterior literally translates as, "wearing lavish garments and drinking fragrant wine, playing chess under candle lit night and not returning home". The base is carved with an apocryphal mark which translates as "Jiajing bingyin year (1566), carved by studio of Zhang".
