A cinnabar lacquer 'figures in landscape' box and cover
Qianlong
Of square form with indented corners, the cover carved with a keyfret border above a band of foliate scrolls enclosing two seated scholars with an attendant standing nearby carrying a basket and a staff over his shoulder underneath the shade of pine and willow trees against a backdrop of rolling hilltops and waterfall in the distance, the sides with detached sprigs of peonies, camellia, chrysanthemum and prunus within a lobed cartouche separated by auspicious objects in the four corners above a band of keyfrets around the vertical footrim, all reserved on a diaper ground, the interior and base lacquered black.
