A red overlay glass 'magpies and prunus' bowl
Mid Qing dynasty The circular hollowed foot with tapering sides rising to a flared mouthrim, the exterior with red overlay finely carved with a continuous scene of a pair of magpie perching on the branches of flowering prunus issuing from rockworks. 15.7cm diam.
The motif of magpies and prunus carving on glass also appears on a pair of translucent amber-coloured glass bowls from the Andrew K.F. Lee Collection, illustrated in Elegance and Radiance.
