A yellow glass 'narcissus' jardinière
Mid Qing dynasty The quatrelobed vessel with petal-like sides rising to a flared scalloped rim, conjoined from a diamond-shape relief, the exterior intricately carved with a continuous lotus pond scene depicting two mandarin ducks, stalks of blooming lotus blossoms, pods and leaves springing from a coiled foot formed from tied lotus stems. 17cm diam.
A closely related example of a pair of opaque yellow quatrefoil narcissus bowls from a Palm Beach estate collection is in the Gadient collection, illustrated in Chinese Qing Dynasty Treasures: Glass Treasures. A Selection from the Gadient Collection Glass, Hong Kong, 2009, no.46.
