Of compressed globular form with flared skirting, rising from three feet, each formed of small taotie masks issuing a long tongue curling at the end, flanked at the side with two mythical beast C-shaped handles, the shoulders with two bands of archaistic scroll.

Footnotes

  • Other than simple vessels used for cooking, pairs of identical gui were also used to indicate social status and ones hierarchy in the society. Gui like the current lot were made in large numbers in completely stereotyped form, where its unchanging form is in fact the prized attribute.
