Early Qing dynasty Finely worked in the form of two lychees, one larger than the other, both of ovoid shape and incised with intricate hexagonal star-shaped diaper ground, all issuing from a gnarled leafy branch, the stone pale green with russet tones. 9.8cm high.
The quality of the workmanship on the 'lychee' group is exceptional, reminiscent of that on a white jade 'qin' paperweight from the Water, Pine and Stone Retreat Collection, illustrated in Arts from the Scholar's Studio, University of Hong Kong, 1986, cat. no. 226, and sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong, 8 October 2010, lot 2196.
