The vessel with a circular ring base and high shoulders rising to a lipped rim, flanked on each side with a spout and double-lobed handle, surmounted on a reticulated warmer on three animal head feet, the sides with a pair of animal mask handles and reticulated trigram and floral decoration, all finely enamelled in a floral pattern with butterflies, double-gourds, peaches and berries in various brilliant tones.

It is extremely rare to find a teapot with original warming stand. The carved openwork design of the bagua or eight trigrams on the warming stand can be also found a Qing dynasty square teapot with warming stand dated to 1850, from the collection of Yao Shiying, see Liang Baiquan and Gu Jingzhou (ed.), Yixing Purple Clay Ware , Hong Kong, 1990, p.162, pl.72.

清中期紫泥加彩花蝶紋暖座式大壺

器身上為壺，下為座，以壺置於座上，壺、座間子母口相合。壺圓柱身，三彎長流，正耳把，高蓋橋鈕，壺肩及近足處刻如意雲紋一周。座呈圓形，豐肩，肩部鏤梅花孔，下承三獸面足，座兩側塑舖首耳，座壁鏤孔作乾「☰」、兌「☱」、離「☲」、震「☳」、巽「☴」、坎「☵」、艮「☶」、坤「☷」八卦紋飾，以作散熱之需。壺與座通身以粉彩繪牡丹瓜蝶紋，寓意富貴長春，瓜瓞綿綿。整壺設計精巧，彩繪艷麗，壺與座泥質無異，原配一套實為難得。

此壺曾於2001年4月至9月在布皇家布魯塞爾博物館展出，並在Patrice Valfré著《Yixing: Teapots for Europe》一書中著錄。暖座式壺是宜興紫砂壺式之一，但保留原配一套之傳世品十分稀少，見姚世英藏一件清道光吳月亭製暖座式壺，雖器形呈方形，其暖座上亦有鏤空八卦紋飾，可資參考，梁白泉、顧景舟編，《宜興紫砂》，香港，1990，頁162，圖版72。
