Shao Zhongru is an unknown potter who appears to be unrecorded in any historical context. However, it is worth noting that the slightly tapered form with a short and straight neck presented by current example is also found on teapots made during the early seventeenth century, for example, a large teapot with cloud collar motif by Chen Yongqing from the K. S. Lo Collection, illustrated in Hong Kong Museum of Art (ed.), Yixing Purple Clay Wares – The K.S.Lo Collection, Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware, Hong Kong, 2002, p.64, no. 13.
