An Yixing plaque framed within wood and mother-of-pearl inlaid stand
Late Qing dynasty / early Republican period
The stoneware panel finely carved on both sides: one side depicting the meeting between a traveller and a merchant with his horse pulling a cart, with a kaishu inscription and a zhuanshu circular seal mark on the top left corner, the other side with a multiple kaishu inscriptions worked in relief, all framed within a rectangular wooden panel with finely inlaid mother-of-pearl floral sprays issuing from rockworks and surrounded by birds and butterflies, the stand also inlaid with mother-of-pearl on one side featuring a scene of the Eight Immortals crossing a river.
