An Imperial famille-rose and lavender-blue ground porcelain 'shell' ink palette

Jiaqing six-character seal mark and of the period
Finely-potted and textured in the form of a shell, the interior enamelled in a naturalistic pattern, the mouthrim gilded in gold resembling a ruyi-head, the rest of the exterior enamelled in a sweet lavender blue glaze, leaving the base unglazed except a square enclosure with an underglaze-blue six-character zhuanshu seal mark.

Although dated Jiaqing period, the style of imitating living objects as exemplified by the current lot is typical of the late Qianlong period. Although the Qianlong Emperor abdicated in 1795, when he assumed the title of the Emperor Emeritus, the works of art produced during the early Jiaqing period retain many stylistic qualities of the Qianlong period. It is commonly agreed that this period of transition lasts between 1796-1798.

清嘉慶粉彩仿貝式筆筆頕「大清嘉慶年製」六字篆書款

筆覘造形巧思呈仿貝狀，周邊施錦松色釉，並在上邊描繪極為細緻的金彩，線條優美，讓整器散發出一種器雖小巧，卻有宮廷文房妙品之風韵，是一件惟妙惟肖仿象生瓷器，其構思之巧、製作之精，令人讚嘆不已。

本拍品為乾隆朝晚期仿象生瓷中逸品，雖為嘉慶年款，但以工藝水平之精細而言，可說應屬乾隆晚期(1795年)退位給嘉慶皇帝後當太上皇時期所生產之乾隆風格瓷器中的精品。乾隆皇帝雖於1795年退位給嘉慶皇帝，但仍手執大權，繼續影響著官窑瓷器之燒造，故一般見一些戴嘉慶年款的精美瓷器均產於此過度時期，也就是1796-1798年之間。
